Diabetes and obesity – are they connected? It is believed that there is a link between the two and it is found in the food supplies that are available which allow people to eat more kilojoules than they should, this in turn can lead to obesity. Obesity is associated with type 2 diabetes, although there are different types of diabetes.
Diabetes now effects over 246 million people making it a worldwide epidemic. This number is said to rise to over 300 million by 2025. This deadly disease is the cause of heart disease, kidney failure, amputations to limbs, and blindness. It is vital that we take control and start to manage this disease before it is too late.
Research has shown that the foods that we eat today is the connection between obesity and type 2 diabetes.
The number of people that are affected by diabetes is increasing, so we need to make sure that people are aware of the risks and how to avoid them.
